3 Marketing Maneuvers I Learned from HubSpot’s Inbound Certification

It has almost been a year since our team attended INBOUND for the first time. Wow how times flys! As we gear up for INBOUND 2016, we want to share with you some of the innovative concepts we picked up over the last year that have fueled connections for our nimble digital marketing firm.

Armed with an enthusiasm for new concepts following INBOUND 2015, and an eagerness to energize our small and mighty crew, our team returned from Boston with an abundance of knowledge to share, and a challenge. Pivot our digital marketing firm into a strategy focused inbound marketing powerhouse. This transition would require a shift in our team’s methodology, along with the successful completion of HubSpot’s Inbound Certification Program.

Challenge accepted.

Over the course of several weeks I immersed myself in the informational videos and core concepts of inbound marketing. I learned about the importance of creating remarkable content and helping others find solutions to their challenges. I passed the certification test on my first attempt, hooray! It’s official, I am Inbound Certified! The training videos provided a ton of tips and takeaways and I want to share with you the three insights I found to be the most transformative.

Become a Valuable Resource

Inbound marketing is about empowering customers to create and share remarkable content with the world. This is not your traditional “give ‘em the pitch” approach. The inbound methodology places a focus on helping your customers, providing solutions and building relationships. This approach is very appealing to me because I have always been a “people person.” I thrive on creating connections and building rapport. Remember your customers are people, they have questions and are seeking ways to make informed decisions. Become a resource for them and you will forge lasting connections.

Create a SMART Social Media Approach

In 2016, over 2 billion people worldwide use social media to communicate with friends, share information, tweet the latest news, and strengthen relationships. This heightened level of connectivity is one of the main reasons why businesses are finding that it is more important than ever to create a cohesive social media strategy and provide customers with content they love. Be SMART about your social media approach. Determine the goals of each social media campaign, monitor the campaign for results and provide responses to inquiries from customers.

Be Delightful

Creating remarkable content that will engage customers is the heart of inbound marketing. Once you have created a bond with your customers, it is paramount that you continue to delight them. You have spent time nurturing these relationships and your customers have placed their trust in you. Show that you care about their investment by providing them with content that is specifically tailored to their interests and unique challenges.

Remember, successful business connections are built on trust and your ability to provide your customers with helpful, valuable, and relevant information. Become a resource and you will be able to convert your customers into avid promoters.
